Ankara beats Red Bull to Kasule’s signature

Ibrahim ‘Baba’ Kasule joined Ankara Keciörengücü on a three and half year deal from Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants FC.

Kasule, arguably the best player in the first round of the current StarTimes Uganda Premier League with five goals and five assists, left the country for Turkey at the beginning of the year.

The development that is confirmed by TransferMarket on the official account of Ankara Keciörengücü, dismisses reports that the exciting midfielder had joined New York Red Bull II in the US.

However, this Ndibba understands there was indeed overwhelming interest from Red Bull for Kasule and Frank Ssebufu after the side’s reserve team coach, Ibrahim Sekagya watched the duo in training and a few games.

This website is also aware that Sekagya was impressed by Kasule and Ssebufu and was given the green light to start processing their supposed moves to the USA.

But along the way, Ankara Keciörengücü joined in and showed significant interest in Kasule, and Wakiso Giants decided to sell to the Turkish outfit.

Kasule is listed as a new entrant in Ankara Keciörengücü U19s alongside Nigerian right winger Ismail Altunerg.

The others are Turkish players Alper Duman (central Midfield), Batuhan Bestas (centre-Back), Efe Öztürk (defender), Christian Innocent (Central Midfield) and Fatih Acikgöz (Left-Back).

Kasule will spend atleast a season in the U19s team at Ankara Keciörengücü for development purposes before he can play with the first team.

Reports indicate he will always train with the first team but play with the U19s atleast for the remainder of the season, and he will be subjected to the right diet and training program.

Ankara Keciörengücü officials were in the country towards the end of last year for a purported partnership with Arua Hill.

Meanwhile, the New York Red Bull II move for Ssebufu is imminent, and it is understood that visa application of a visa to the USA has only been suspended by Cranes’ delayed return from Algeria after their elimination from the 2022 African Nations Championship.
