All Eyes on VAR in Easter Road Clash

[ad_1]

Scottish football is bracing itself for VAR’s debut in the Premiership tonight at Easter Road.

Willie Collum is the man entrusted to oversee the smooth introduction of the technology for tonight’s clash between Hibs and St Johnstone. Let’s see how that goes!

Few bookies have priced up VAR related bets but Skybet go 10/3 on there being a red card and 15/8 that a penalty is taken.

As for the game itself, the Hibees are 8/13 to win. Lee Johnson’s side had been going well until a 1-0 defeat to Dundee Utd stopped them in their tracks. They were thumped 6-1 at Celtic Park last weekend but they’ve a good recent record against the Saintees, winning four and drawing the other of the last five meetings.

It’s a similar story for St Johnstone who have lost their last three having gone three without defeat. By all accounts it was a pretty dire performance at Livingston last week so a big improvement will be required to pick anything up in the capital tonight.

In terms of a bet, let’s look to a BetBuilder.

Surprisingly, Hibernian lead the way on the corner count in the Premiership, racking up an average of 8.00 per match (6.40 at home). Contrast that with St Johnstone who have won the fewest corners, just 3.09 per game.

The Saintees are also the worst discplined team in the league with 34 yellows and one red in 11 games. Worst offenders are Ryan McGowan (5 cards), Alex Mitchell (4) and Daniel Phillips (3).

Referee Kevin Clancy is averaging 4.50 yellows per game and has flashed two red in his six Premiership matches.

With all that in mind a BetBuilder of Over 5 Hibs Corners, Over 1 St Johstone Cards, Over 3 Match Cards pays 23/20.
