Uganda Cranes officially kick start their campaign of returning to African Cup of Nations after missing on the previous editions which took place in Cameroon in January 2022.
Uganda is taking on Algeria in group F of Qualifiers of 2023 African Cup of Nations at 5th July 1962 Algiers.
Algeria is hoping to build on their fine home record if they are to down Micho’s coached side.
Algeria has lost only once in their last 13 home games and this was against Cameroon in the Qualifiers of World Cup 2022 in March.
But they have picked only one win in their last 5 games drawing and losing 3 games in the rest.
Elsewhere, Uganda have recorded one victory in the last six games they have played away.
Algerian team captain, Riyad Mahrez will not be taking part in game after picking an injury.
Djamael will hope to build his Strong team around some notable names from Ramy Benseban who plies his trade with Germany Burrusia Monchenlenberg, Aisa Madi from Virrareal and Ismail Bennecur who helped AC Millan to clinch their Serie A title.
Adam Ounas and Ismail Slimani are expected to lead the green line in absence of Mahrez.
On Side of Uganda, Timothy Denis Awany and Livingston Mulondo didn’t travel with the team to Algeria due to injuries.
Fahad Bayo will also not take part in this game because has issues with his travel documents, National ID and Passport don’t match and didn’t travel with the team to Algeria.
Goalkeeper Giousa Bellagambi who plays for English club Huddersfield Town will be making his debut if he makes the first eleven.
Vipers SC center back Halid Lwaliwa is expected to partner with Motherwell defender Bevis Mugabi at the center.
Miya Farouk is expected to start the game after missing the previous Uganda Cranes engagements because he has been clubless.
Team Captain Emmanuel Okwi is expected to lead the striking line for Black, Yellow and Red nation.
